Tips for a Smooth Delivery Day During Your Move

Delivery Day Tips:

  • Determine your floor plan in advance this will help you as you’re directing movers where to place your items as they come into your home.
  • Someone 18 years or older must be present for the duration of your delivery for liability purposes.
  • Ensure that all rooms and hallways are clear of items, boxes, and debris so that your furniture and boxes can be loaded in efficiently.
  • Alert your neighbors ahead of time if the truck will be blocking any major traffic areas. This will allow them to plan accordingly, especially in neighborhoods with tight streets
  • Make sure you use the check-off sheet to determine if all your items arrived and be sure to make notes of any missing or damaged items
  • If unpacking is a part of your relocation services, remember that this includes a flat surface unpack, meaning items are removed from cartons and placed on flat surfaces, NOT in cabinets or cupboards. Once a box is unpacked we will remove paper, boxes, and other associated debris.
  • Make sure to do a walk through prior to departure of your crew to determine and note any damages. In the event that you discover damages be sure to point them out to your van operator and notify your move coordinator within 24 hours.
  • If you are paying for your move and have not pre-paid, you will be expected to pay via certified funds or cash, upon delivery. Pre-payments may be made with a credit card prior to moving day.
  • Plan Breaks throughout the day, make sure that everyone has time to rest and refuel, as needed. Make sure to eat and drink plenty of water, especially if you’re moving in the hot summer months.
  • Be patient, your crew members are doing their best to get everything unloaded in a timely and organized manner, being organized and prepared to direct them at the new home will be a huge help to them.
